What is missing?

One in five mammals, one in three amphibians, one in eight birds and one in three fish of those so far assessed are under threat of extinction. The assumption that we in the developed world are doing a better job at conservation is also shaken by the ‘What is missing’ initiative.

We currently consume 1.3 times the world’s resources. Our decisions – what we eat, buy or even throw away – can affect the balance between life and death for species and resources on the brink.

To have some of your preconceptions challenged, take a look at the ‘What is missing?’ visualisation of the data on species depletion and environmental damage. Do investigate each of the sections within the visualisation using the menu towards the bottom left.
